I want to ask you something very important: Are you a sports fan or a sports fanatic? According to the dictionary, a fan is “an enthusiastic devotee or follower of sports or sports team,” and a fanatic is “a person with an intense passion or fervor for sports or sports team.” I looked up both definitions. A very thin line separates a sports fan from a sports enthusiast. I will share my perspective on the thin line that distinguishes a fan from a fanatic because I consider myself a fanatic.
When they have the time, sports fans will follow their preferred team. The supporter will be familiar with some trivia or team lore. When a fan has spare time and it works into their schedule, they will try to go see their favorite team.
A sports enthusiast lives, breathes, and consumes everything related to sports. A true sports enthusiast will be familiar with all relevant statistics and background information. They are familiar with every rule, every team member, and every aspect of that team or sport. A fan will make every effort to attend every game of their favorite team, and if they are unable to do so, they will have a hand device or smart phone with them that they can use to obtain the most recent information on the game.
A enormous, loud, cinema-sized flat screen TV that occupies half of the living room is the primary requirement for a sports enthusiast who doesn’t attend the game. It must include surround sound stereo speakers so that the experience is identical to being in a sporting venue. The living room’s furnishings must have a sizable, comfy sofa, along with a few reclining chairs and footstools. For the fan to invite every buddy over for the “big” game, there must be plenty of seating available.
The meal is the last thing a sports enthusiast needs. So that they feel like they are tailgating in their own kitchen, there needs to be plenty of food. For the game, there must be an abundance of potato chips, dips, tortilla chips, pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, and many more foods. The most crucial item is the drinks, which include a case of beer that will fit in the refrigerator or a small refrigerator that belongs to each person and can contain beers and other drinks.
Sports fans will not possess as much mementos and team clothes as sports fans do. A sports lover needs every piece of sports memorabilia from the jersey to the spoon of their favorite sports teams. The people that dress up as awful sports team uniforms and have face paint all over them in stadiums are probably the fans.
